The British Muslim Forum welcomes the appointment of 13 new Faith Advisers to the Secretary of State for Communities’ Faith Panel to encourage a deeper and broader relationship between Government and faith communities.

The Secretary of State for Communities, the Rt. Hon. John Denham MP said: “the 13 new faith advisers who will act as a "sounding board" to advise on effective engagement with faith communities, and the impact of Communities and Local Government policy on faith communities”.

This is an important step forward in recognising the significant contributions that faith communities have made to work on key issues such as homelessness and tackling poverty at home abroad. The British Muslim Forum is delighted at the appointment of two Muslims, Alveena Malik and Wakkas Khan on the Faith Experts Panel. Both have contributed greatly to the betterment of the Muslim communities and bring extensive knowledge and policy experience.
